Who Is My Neighbor?

Who is my neighbor? Who should we show love and care to? Who should we help in time of need. These questions are asked in an excerpt from the book 'Christ's Object Lessons', page 379:
"Among the Jews the question, "Who is my neighbor?" caused endless dispute. They had no doubt as to the heathen and the Samaritans. These were strangers and enemies. But where should the distinction be made among the people of their own nation and among the different classes of society? Whom should the priest, the rabbi, the elder, regard as neighbor? They spent their lives in a round of ceremonies to make themselves pure. Contact with the ignorant and careless multitude, they taught, would cause defilement that would require wearisome effort to remove. Were they to regard the "unclean" as neighbors?

This question Christ answered in the parable of the good Samaritan. He showed that our neighbor does not mean merely one of the church or faith to which we belong. It has no reference to race, color, or class distinction. Our neighbor is every person who needs our help. Our neighbor is every soul who is wounded and bruised by the adversary. Our neighbor is every one who is the property of God."

Giving Thanks and Praise

There is so much to give thanks for...

Give thanks and praise unto The LORD for His continued love and care for us all. During this season of thanksgiving, please do not forget those who are in need, and endeavor to help someone out through donations and/or volunteering with local charitable organizations.

Praise The LORD for HIS many blessings towards us:

Psalm 148
Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens: praise Him in the heights.
Praise ye Him, all his angels: praise ye Him, all His hosts.
Praise ye Him, sun and moon: praise Him, all ye stars of light.
Praise Him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
Let them praise the Name of the Lord: for He commanded, and they were created.
He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: He hath made a decree which shall not pass.
Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:
Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his word:
Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:
10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:
11 Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth:
12 Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:
13 Let them praise the Name of the Lord: for His Name alone is excellent; His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 He also exalteth the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto Him. Praise ye the Lord.

Honoring God with Our Substance

"Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine." Proverbs 3:9-10

How do we honor God with our substance? In the book 'Counsels on Stewardship, it says "That man might not lose the blessed results of benevolence, our Redeemer formed the plan of enlisting him as His coworker. God could have reached His object in saving sinners without the aid of man; but He knew that man could not be happy without acting a part in the great work. By a chain of circumstances which would call forth his charities, He bestows upon man the best means of cultivating benevolence, and keeps him habitually giving to help the poor and to advance His cause. By its necessities a ruined world is drawing forth from us talents of means and of influence, to present to men and women the truth, of which they are in perishing need. And as we heed these calls, by labor and by acts of benevolence, we are assimilated to the image of Him who for our sakes became poor. In bestowing, we bless others, and thus accumulate true riches"

The LORD is calling all who can help others to help others. As we prayerfully plan our next mission trip for 2015, we ask you to partner with us in prayer, in provision and in promises. Stay tuned for more information...

What's Next For The Pokot Mission Project

Now that the mission trip is over, we are working on Phase II of the project.

Once again praise The LORD for how HE helped lead the mission all the way. We were able to:
  • Provide medical care to over 400 individuals.
  • Give bags of food to the hungry in the community.
  • Minister to over 200 children during the vacation bible school program.
  • Have an evangelistic meeting that produced 19 newly baptized souls.
  • Cover the tuition cost for many children to continue attending school.

What a Mighty God we serve! We thank HIM that we were able to minister in more ways that we even imagined.
We solicit your prayers as we move forward in the work in Pokot. We are working on impacting the lives of two precious children we encountered, and we are also working on implementing a school sponsorship program. Please stay tuned for more updates and how YOU can help in the coming months.

------------------------------------
Christ has bidden us, through the prophet, "Deal thy bread to the hungry," and "satisfy the afflicted soul;" "when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him," and "bring the poor that are cast out to thy house." Isa. 58:7-10. He has bidden us, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15. But how often our hearts sink, and faith fails us, as we see how great is the need, and how small the means in our hands. Like Andrew looking upon the five barley loaves and the two little fishes, we exclaim, "What are they among so many?" Often we hesitate, unwilling to give all that we have, fearing to spend and to be spent for others. But Jesus has bidden us, "Give ye them to eat." His command is a promise; and behind it is the same power that fed the multitude beside the sea. Desire of The Ages, page 369

What A Mission!

Mission Accomplished!

We want to thank everyone who prayed for and/or donated to the Pokot mission! During the mission week, we saw over 480 patients at the medical camp, 200 children for the Vacation Bible School program, and fed and clothed many others in the community.

But this is not the end; this is just the beginning.

Please stay tuned for future missions back to East Pokot. Please email us at pokotmission@gmail.com if you would like to be notified when we plan our next mission trip. Continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Pokot.

It's Here!!!

It's here!

The mission trip is here!

All the months of preparation, prayers and planning are all over, and we are just hours away from the beginning of the mission.

Please continue to keep us in much prayer as we serve our fellow brothers and sisters in Pokot.

We just want to give all praise and glory to Our Lord and Savior for helping us throughout this mission, and being The Author and Finisher of this ministry:

1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. ~ Psalm 150

We thank you in advance. Please continue to keep us in much prayer.

Give, and it shall be given unto you

The sermon on the mount is the most all-encompassing sermons in all of the Bible. Not only did it emanate from The Father of All Creation, it touched upon many different facets in the Christian's life. In the Luke account of the sermon on the mount, The LORD said this
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38
The Lord commands us to give and promises that it will be returned unto us. There are many who are hungering and thirsting after (both) spiritual and physical food; may The LORD open up our eyes to the needs of our fellow brothers and sisters. Please consider donating today. As we draw close to our mission trip in July, we still need funds to help offset the costs of medical supplies and medicines for our clinic. We will be transitioning from using Rally.org for our donations to PayPal from now on, so please send funds to "Pokotmission@gmail.com" and select the 'Friends and Family' option. (See pictures below). We thank you for your donating and praying for us!

Praise and Thanks Unto The LORD

There should always be thanks and praise upon our lips. As often as we talk amongst ourselves, we should always thank The LORD for all His blessings and mercies, and continue to praise Him for everything. As we draw closer to our mission trip, we just want to praise Him for His leading and guidance so far. Please continue to pray for us and praise The LORD.

Healing and Encouragement

"The mission of Christ was to heal the sick, encourage the hopeless, bind up the brokenhearted. This work of restoration is to be carried on among the needy, suffering ones of humanity. God calls not only for your benevolence, but your cheerful countenance, your hopeful words, the grasp of your hand. Relieve some of God’s afflicted ones.

Some are sick, and hope has departed. Bring back the sunlight to them. There are souls who have lost their courage; speak to them, pray for them. There are those who need the bread of life. Read to them from the Word of God. There is a soul sickness no balm can reach, no medicine heal.

Pray for these, and bring them to Jesus Christ. And in all your work, Christ will be present to make impressions upon human hearts" A Call To Medical Evangelism

It's almost here! The mission trip is just a few months away! Please continue to keep us in prayer, and spread the word about the mission! We are still collecting donations and still accepting applicants!

Christ's Ministry in One Verse

We can sum up Christ's ministry in one verse:

Matthew 9:35 - And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

He calls us to do the same. Join is in Kenya this Summer! Support The Pokot Mission Project by your prayers, your donations or even your attendance!

Giving Praise To God

There are many things we can complain about. We can complain and murmur about things that are not going our way, and we can complain about events that we don't have control over as well. The Bible has quite a few examples of complainers and the consequences of their gripes. We really have no reason to ever murmur before The LORD, and in contrast, we are told to give thanks and praise as often as we have breathe in our being.

As we continue planning for the mission trip to Pokot, we want to take this time to praise God for everything HE has worked out in this mission. We thank Him for this vision, the mission, the team members and the applicants who have signed on so far. We also thank HIM for all the donations and prayers that have been given through HIS people. Thank you and give praise unto The LORD always!

Mercy

Mercy is kind, pitiful. Mercy and the love of God purify the soul, beautify the heart, and cleanse the life from selfishness. Mercy is a manifestation of divine love, and is shown by those who, identified with God, serve Him by reflecting the light of heaven upon the pathway of their fellow creatures.

The condition of many persons calls for the exercise of genuine mercy. Christians, in their dealing with one another, are to be controlled by principles of mercy and love. They are to improve every opportunity for helping fellow beings in distress. The duty of every Christian is plainly outlined in the words: “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over.” “As ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” These are the principles that we shall do well to cherish.

Let those who desire to perfect a Christlike character ever keep in view the cross on which Christ died a cruel death in order to redeem humankind. Let them ever cherish the same merciful spirit that led the Savior to make an infinite sacrifice for our redemption.

April Showers...

Spring time is here!

This season in the United States is characterized
by blooming flowers, blossoming trees, longer days and shorter nights.

We also see why it is said that "April showers bring May flowers" as this month is notorious for the great amount of rain showers it receives during this time.

This is also the season for Spring cleaning! It is that time when many get rid of their unused/old things, to make room for the new. But before you start cleaning out your closets in anticipation for a whole new wardrobe, or before you decide to purchase that new electronic device or even a new car, please remember to donate to the charitable organization of your choice. We at the Pokot Mission Project are still soliciting funds, but you may also have another ministry or institution that The LORD is calling you to give your time and your funds to. After all, HE is the One who has blessed you with the means to bless others.

To donate to the Pokot Mission, please visit https://rally.org/pokotmission. May God continue to pour showers of blessings upon you.

Our Work

To every one who becomes a partaker of His grace, the Lord appoints a work for others. Individually we are to stand in our lot and place, saying, “Here I am; send me.” Upon the minister of the word, the missionary nurse, the Christian physician, the individual Christian, whether he be merchant or farmer, professional man or mechanic,—the responsibility rests upon all. It is our work to reveal to men the gospel of their salvation. Every enterprise in which we engage should be a means to this end.—The Ministry of Healing, 148.

Win Souls

"Let every worker for Christ make it his highest aim to win souls, rather than to be looking at and teaching mere superficial requirements. Bend your energies to the fitting of living stones for the building of God." The Medical Missionary

There are many ways to win souls for Christ. Besides giving bible studies, getting involved in community outreach initiatives and evangelizing, you can help bring healing to many. If one spent time studying The Gospels, you would see that Jesus spent more time healing the people than preaching; so won't you join us in this work in July? We are still accepting applicants for the mission. Also, please consider donating today; all funds will be used for the mission trip and the beautiful people of Pokot.

Thank you (Asante)

Tenderness and Compassion of Christ

True sympathy between man and his fellow men is to be the sign distinguishing those who love and fear God from those who are unmindful of His law. How great the sympathy that Christ expressed in coming to this world to give His life a sacrifice for a dying world! His religion led to the doing of genuine medical missionary work. He was a healing power. “I will have mercy, and not sacrifice,” He said. This is the test that the great Author of truth used to distinguish between true religion and false. God wants His medical missionaries to act with the tenderness and compassion that Christ would show were He in our world.—Medical Ministry, 251

We are thrilled for the few who have signed up for the mission, but we are still looking for a few more souls to join us in showing tenderness and compassion to our fellow brothers and sisters in East Pokot.

Please consider registering today by going to our application tab. You can also support us by praying for us and the mission, or by donating to the mission by clicking here.

Praise to The LORD, The Almighty, The King of All Creation!

Bringing Children To Christ

There is a work to be done in bringing children to Christ.

In the days of Christ, mothers brought their children to Him, that He might lay His hands upon them in blessing. By this act they showed their faith in Jesus and the intense anxiety of their hearts for the present and future welfare of the little ones committed to their care. But the disciples could not see the need of interrupting the Master just for the sake of noticing the children, and as they were sending these mothers away Jesus rebuked the disciples and commanded the crowd to make way for these faithful mothers with their little children. Said He, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” To Be Like Jesus, Page 23

If you have experience with working with children, and want to join our Vacation Bible School team in Pokot, please register today! We are still accepting applicants for both our children's and medical teams.

Ministering To Children

Besides the medical component of our mission trip, we will be having a vacation bible school program for the children. It is important to minister to the precious little ones among us. The hearts of children yearn for love and understanding, and we seek to follow in the footsteps of the LORD in reaching the hearts of his smallest disciples.

"Jesus was a lover of children. He accepted their childish sympathy and open, unaffected love. The grateful praise from their lips refreshed His spirit when oppressed by contact with crafty and hypocritical men. Wherever He went, His gentle, kindly manner won their confidence.

It was customary for children to be brought to some rabbi, that he might lay his hands on them in blessing. But when the mothers came to Him with their little ones, the disciples looked on them with disfavor. They thought these children too young to be benefited by a visit to Jesus, and concluded that He would be displeased. But it was the disciples with whom He was displeased. The Saviour understood the burden of the mothers who were seeking to train their children. He Himself had drawn them into His presence."
From Heaven with Love, pg 342

Please join us in this mission! As we minister to the children, we minister to ourselves.

Give Yourselves To Service

"My brethren and sisters, give yourselves to the Lord for service. Allow no opportunity to pass unimproved. Visit the sick and suffering, and show a kindly interest in them. If possible, do something to make them more comfortable. Through this means you can reach their hearts, and speak a word for Christ. Eternity alone will reveal how far-reaching such a line of labor can be. Other lines of usefulness will open before those who are willing to do the duty nearest them." Testimonies for the Church 9:36.

We are called to help the people of East Pokot. There are many who are sick and suffering, and as we move forward in the Pokot Mission project, we are still looking for a few more missionaries. If you are interested in joining us in service in July, please read more about the mission trip and apply today!

Bringing Healing

"And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them." (Matt 4:23-24)

Christ understood mankind. He understood before He could heal mankind spiritually, He needed to heal us physically. The LORD spent more time healing and restoring people than sermonizing. He knew that He could grasp the attention of the people and direct their minds to His Heavenly Kingdom if He gave sight to the blind, voice to the dumb, strength to the weak and hearing to the deaf.

We want to continue in the path that Christ has laid for us. We want to bring healing and hope to the people of East Pokot this July. And not just for this year, but for the years to come. Would you prayerfully consider donating to our mission by going to our donation page. Any amount will be appreciated as all funds will go to the project.

Wherever you go today, bring healing with you.

A Little Goes A Long Way

As we see the necessities of the poor, the ignorant, the afflicted, how often our hearts sink. We question, "What avail our feeble strength and slender resources to supply this terrible necessity? Shall we not wait for someone of greater ability to direct the work, or for some organization to undertake it?" Christ says, "Give ye them to eat." Use the means, the time, the ability, you have. Bring your barley loaves to Jesus. Though your resources may not be sufficient to feed thousands, they may suffice to feed one. In the hand of Christ they may feed many. Like the disciples, give what you have. Christ will multiply the gift. He will reward honest, simple reliance upon Him. That which seemed but a meager supply will prove to be a rich feast - Ministry of Healing, page 49-50.

Christ saw the multitude before Him and knew of their need. In the same way, we too see a multitude before us, and we know the needs of others. The task may seem daunting, and we may look at our meager donations and think it cannot do any good for so many, but Christ is encouraging us to use the means and the times we have to feed His people. We will be embarking on our $5-for-days campaign this week! Please join us in raising funds for the mission. Your $5 can go a long way in alleviating the needs of perhaps one or two individuals. Please prayerfully consider helping today. Our fundraising website is Rally for Pokot Mission.

Christ's Labor For Souls

As we study Christ's method in reaching souls, we are encouraged to follow in His footsteps and do the same.

In the book, Acts of The Apostles, it says "The Saviour went from house to house, healing the sick, comforting the mourners, soothing the afflicted, speaking peace to the disconsolate. He took the little children in His arms and blessed them, and spoke words of hope and comfort to the weary mothers. With unfailing tenderness and gentleness He met every form of human woe and affliction. Not for Himself but for others did He labor. He was the servant of all. It was His meat and drink to bring hope and strength to all with whom He came in contact. And as men and women listened to the truths that fell from His lips, so different from the traditions and dogmas taught by the rabbis, hope sprang up in their hearts. In His teaching there was an earnestness that sent His words home with convicting power."

"God’s ministers are to learn Christ’s method of laboring, that they may bring from the storehouse of His word that which will supply the spiritual needs of those for whom they labor. Thus only can they fulfill their trust. The same Spirit that dwelt in Christ as He imparted the instruction He was constantly receiving, is to be the source of their knowledge and the secret of their power in carrying on the Saviour’s work in the world."

We are still looking for missionaries to help labor for souls. Please pray, donate or register with us today!

Brotherly Love

An excerpt in the book Ministry of Healing says, "Christ recognized no distinction of nationality or rank or creed. The scribes and Pharisees desired to make a local and a national benefit of the gifts of heaven and to exclude the rest of God's family in the world. But Christ came to break down every wall of partition. He came to show that His gift of mercy and love is as unconfined as the air, the light, or the showers of rain that refresh the earth.

The life of Christ established a religion in which there is no caste, a religion by which Jew and Gentile, free and bond, are linked in a common brotherhood, equal before God. No question of policy influenced His movements. He made no difference between neighbors and strangers, friends and enemies. That which appealed to His heart was a soul thirsting for the waters of life. He passed by no human being as worthless, but sought to apply the healing remedy to every soul. In whatever company He found Himself He presented a lesson appropriate to the time and the circumstances."

This July, please join us as we seek to bring healing remedies to our brothers and sisters in East Pokot.

Donate to Our $5-For-7 Campaign!

What can a little do in the hands of the Creator?

- Five loaves and two fish can feed 5,000 people

- Seven loaves can feed 4,000

- Twelve men (with The Holy Spirit) can spread the gospel to the world!

Knowing what a little can do in the hands of the Creator, we encourage you to join us as we run our $5-For-7 days campaign! For the next seven days, we are encouraging everyone to prayerfully consider donating $5 to the cause. We understand that it may be difficult to give a large donation, so we are just asking for a small enough donation where everyone can participate!

Please join us this week as we seek to raise funds for our mission trip. 100% of all funds raised will be used for the medical supplies, medicines, Bibles and other items for the Pokot community. You can donate here!

"We are to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and comfort the suffering and afflicted. We are to minister to the despairing, and to inspire hope in the hopeless." Ministry of Healing, pg 106

Thank you for expressing interest in the Pokot Mission Project! We are excited that you are interested in learning more about our mission project, and the mission trip in July. Please prayfully consider how you can help today. There are three ways.

Since our focus will primarily be medical, we are especially interested in having doctors, nurses, physician assistants and many more from the medical field. We will also need veterinarians and animal specialists to join us. We will also have a vacation bible school program for the children, so we will need missionaries for this component as well.
